What does Sweet Crude Oil mean?
A classification of petroleum product that has a low level of sulphur with the oil containing low levels of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Sweet Crude Oil is often used to produce gasoline.

Based on classifications from the New York Mercantile Exchange for a crude oil product to be designated as Sweet Crude Oil it must contain a sulphur level of below 0.42%. For example, one of the most well known Sweet Crude Oil is West Texas Intermediate, which has a sulphur level of 0.24%.
